The Real Reason We Get Stuck

Have you ever found yourself saying, “I know what I need to do, yet I just can’t seem to do it”? If so, you’re not alone.
Many women entrepreneurs and leaders feel stuck. They believe they need more time, more resources, more support, or more certainty before they can move forward. While those challenges are real, they are often not the true reason progress feels out of reach.
More often than not, the biggest obstacle is the one staring back at us in the mirror. That may sound harsh, but it’s actually good news. If we are part of the problem, we can also become part of the solution.
Getting in our own way doesn’t usually look like sabotage. It shows up in much subtler ways. We delay making decisions because we want more information. We postpone launching a project until it feels perfect. We tell ourselves we’ll start once life settles down. We convince ourselves that next month, next quarter, or next year will somehow feel easier.
What’s really happening? Fear often disguises itself as logic. Fear of failure. Fear of judgment. Fear of making the wrong choice. Fear of succeeding and then having to sustain that success.
Instead of acknowledging those fears, we create stories that feel more acceptable. We tell ourselves we’re too busy, not ready, or still researching. The result is the same: we stay exactly where we are.
The first step to getting out of your own way is not creating a better plan. It’s developing the awareness to recognize the patterns that are keeping you stuck.
In the W.I.S.E. Framework, this is where Wisdom begins. It’s the ability to pause, reflect, and honestly examine what is helping you move forward and what is holding you back.
Progress doesn’t require perfection. It requires awareness and a willingness to take one intentional step. The question isn’t whether you’re capable of moving forward. The question is whether you’re willing to stop believing the story that says you can’t.
What goal, opportunity, or decision have you been postponing, and what story are you telling yourself about why you haven’t taken the next step?
